GERZMO is in early access; we may update these terms as services switch on.
US privacy notice
GERZMO is a global platform where owners register their car for use: food pickup, passenger trips, or sharing with another driver. This notice adds US details to our global privacy policy. It explains what GERZMO collects through its US early-access pages (gerzmo.netlify.app/us/), why, and the choices and rights you have. Right now GERZMO US only runs an early-access list: every use is not switched on yet, and there are no US trips or payments.
1. Who we are
GERZMO is operated by Gersmo Automobile.

- gersmo.com
2. What we collect
When you join the early-access list, we collect exactly what the form asks for:
- Whether you're a car owner or someone who'd use a car.
- Your first name and email address.
- Your ZIP code.
- Owners only, if you choose to add them: your car's make and model, and whether you'd be interested if Tesla ever opens its network to owners.
- Your agreement to be contacted, with the date and time you gave it.
Spam and abuse protection: when you send the form, we keep a one-way scrambled (salted hash) form of your IP address with an hourly request count, to limit how many sign-ups can come from one network. It can't be turned back into your IP address. Our hosting provider also processes standard technical information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and secure the site.
When you register a car in the GERZMO app: owners anywhere, including in the US, can register a car in the app. Then we also collect what the global privacy policy describes, including your car's license plate number, its country and area, the uses you choose and the days it's usually free. The license plate is never shown publicly. Each use stays not switched on yet in Texas until the permits and insurance it needs are in place.
Usage information: aggregate, cookie-free visitor statistics from Netlify Web Analytics, such as the pages visited, the referring site and approximate location, drawn from our host's server logs (see section 3).
What we don't collect on the list: no last name, phone number, street address, driver's license details, payment card or bank details, and no precise location. If you contact us, we'll also have your contact details and what you tell us.
3. Cookies and analytics
The GERZMO US pages don't set cookies and don't use advertising or cross-site tracking tools. We use Netlify Web Analytics, which produces aggregate visitor statistics from our host's server logs, to count visits and see which pages are useful. It records things like the page visited, the referring site and approximate location, doesn't use cookies, and we only see totals, not individual visitors. Our host, Netlify, keeps server access logs, including IP addresses, for less than 30 days for security and troubleshooting. We don't use any other analytics tool, and we'll update this notice before we add one. Our hosting provider, Netlify, may add a small badge to the site that remembers in your browser's local storage whether you've closed it. You can clear local storage in your browser settings at any time.
4. Why we use it
- To email you about GERZMO early access in the US, including when and where it launches.
- To understand interest, for example how many owners and people who'd use a car there are in each ZIP code, and which cars owners have.
- To prevent spam and abuse.
- To measure site usage in aggregate and improve the site.
- To answer your requests and meet our legal obligations.
5. No sale or sharing
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. We don't use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We don't collect sensitive personal information through the early-access list.
6. Who receives it
- Our hosting provider: Netlify, Inc. hosts the site, stores the early-access list and provides our aggregate visitor statistics (Netlify Web Analytics) and server logs on our behalf, as our service provider, in the United States. GERZMO is run from New Zealand, so the founder accesses it from outside the United States. If you live outside the United States, your information is processed outside your country.
- When the law requires it: for example, in response to a valid legal request.
Your details aren't shown publicly or to other users.
7. How long we keep it
- Early-access list: until GERZMO launches in your area (when we'll ask whether you want to continue), or until you ask us to delete it, and in any case for at most 2 years from when you joined.
- Hashed IP request counts: the count resets every hour, and the stored counts are deleted at least once every 12 months.
- Messages you send us: up to 2 years after we last hear from you.
8. How we protect it
The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). The early-access list can't be read through the public site: only the GERZMO founder can access it, with a private admin key. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
9. Your choices and how to make a request
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it or delete it. Contact us at gersmo.com and tell us the email address you signed up with. We may need to confirm the request comes from you, for example by replying from that email address. You can also ask an authorized agent to make a request for you. We won't treat you differently for making a request.
10. Texas residents
If you live in Texas, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act gives you the right to:
- confirm whether we process your personal data, and access it;
- correct inaccuracies;
- delete personal data you provided or we obtained about you;
- get a copy of your personal data in a portable format;
- opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising, and profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We don't do any of these.
We'll respond within 45 days, and tell you if we need more time as the law allows. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. We'll answer your appeal within 60 days. If your appeal is denied, you can contact the Texas Attorney General at texasattorneygeneral.gov.
11. California residents
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you rights over your personal information. This notice explains them.
- Categories we collect (from you, directly): identifiers (first name and email address); ZIP code; for owners who add them, vehicle information (make and model) and their Tesla-network interest; and internet or network information (the salted IP hash used for rate limiting). We use them for the purposes in section 4 and keep them as described in section 7.
- Sale and sharing: we don't sell or share personal information (including for cross-context behavioral advertising), and haven't in the past 12 months. We don't knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
- Sensitive personal information: we don't collect it through the early-access list.
- Your rights: to know what we collect, use and disclose; to access, correct and delete it; to opt out of sale or sharing; to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. Make a request as described in section 9.
12. Children
GERZMO isn't for children. You must be 18 or older to join the early-access list, and children under 13 aren't allowed to use the site or give us information. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we'll delete it.
13. Other US states
If you live in another state with a privacy law that gives you similar rights, contact us as described in section 9 and we'll handle your request under that law.
14. Changes to this policy
Before we collect anything more (for example driver's license or payment details for trips), we'll update this policy and show the new date at the top of this page.
